and the walls came tumbling down

have you heard that song?
'joshua fought the battle of jericho, jericho,
jericho.
joshua fought the battle of jericho,
and the walls came tumbling down.'

i have or rather had very high,
strong,
and thick walls built around me.
the details don't matter,
but because of things that i have done,
things that have been said and done to me,
i built walls.

i felt safe behind them.
like a cocoon.
but i heard God saying...'your walls are not a cocoon, but a
prison.'
'you were not made to be safe. you were made to fly.'

'you were made to show the world My light through you.'
so He has been removing my walls.
brick by brick.
softly, gently and whispering...
'i will catch you.'

so i am gripping white knuckled
to the one that knows.
i am scared,
but i am ready to shine for Him.

do you have walls?
if you do, pray.
pray for strength to hang on to Him.
He will not leave you...scared and alone.

today i am thankful for
~warmer weather to walk outside
~ watching eagles fly above our home
~tearing down walls
~new paint
~figuring sales tax

today i am linking to

happy friday everyone!

This is lovely Alissa! I am so grateful for His gentleness, and His patience, and His persistence! He never gives up and when we're finally ready to move, He's right there ready to go alongside.

Grace.

what a beautiful story and artwork to go with it. Keep letting Him take down those bricks and be made whole again in Him.

awesome! Love your thankfulness list; and more. I am often reminded, that is truly a gift; a wonderful choice, that we get to pray for His strength... and he always delivers. Amen.

Is this artwork you did? If so, it's fabulous! And it goes perfectly with your words. Loved them both.

Your words are such a delight and so warm.

I do know that song and so well. My mom sang it to us all the time. Thank you for that sweet memory :-))

Beautiful, Alissa. Thank you for being so open and sharing your heart. Love this... "so i am gripping white knuckled to the one that knows. i am scared, but i am ready to shine for Him." I can *so* relate! Happy to see you 'in the studio' this week! :)

Great post Alissa. I, too, know well about walls, and about leaning on Him. He is faithful to complete us!!
Coming over from Studio Friday!

We all have walls to protect us. I read once, walls keep things out...from hurting us, but they also keep good things from getting in as well. And we don't love well from behind walls!

This is beautiful Alissa!

Grace and peace to you!
